Free Wilmington Screening of "Dear Sirs"

AARP North Carolina is proud to present special screening opportunities of the new documentary, “Dear Sirs.” This film is a personal journey through World War II told 75 years later and has been described General James Archer as “a must see to understand the generational impact of the trauma of war, and the importance of knowing and preserving those stories.”

After discovering an archive detailing the horrifying journey of his grandfather as an American POW during World War II, a young man from Wyoming sets out to retrace his footsteps across Germany, piecing together an untold story in an effort to understand the man who helped raise him.

Wilmington area residents will be among the first to screen this important film, that will be aired on PBS in 2023. The special free screening is on Sunday, October 16, at 2:00 pm at the Hannah Block Historic USO and Community Center.

For those unable to attend Sunday’s screening, the film will also be available for virtual screening from October 17ththrough the 21st, with a special question and answer session with the filmmaker after the movie.
